Professor Gordon Edge; a great man, a great legacy

Prof Gordon Edge, a prime mover in the technology-led growth phenomena around Cambridge passed away last week.

Gordon was a champion of innovation-led growth throughout his career and has inspired many to pursue this path, whether in product companies or technology consulting services. He founded both Sagentia and PA technology creating both jobs and spin-out companies.

During a time when financial services were perceived to lead growth and where much was a transient illusion, Gordon championed products, technology and innovation – in other words ‘real growth’. His ability to inspire and create a vision were legendary.

Both Steve and Peter, the founders of nu Angle, were privileged and honoured to count Gordon as both a mentor and a colleague in their earlier careers.

Steve says; “We are both convinced that nu Angle would not exist if it were not for the entrepreneurial instincts that Gordon gave to both of us in different ways.

“Gordon inspired so many people to innovate and to be entrepreneurial, that we believe his work will continue to have a positive impact on the UK for many decades. A true testament to a great man.”

RIP Gordon.
